Denmark Won the Prize for Best International Feature AND for Best Film Editing at the 93rd Academy Awards.

“Another Round”, a film about a group of high school teachers who test a theory about improving their lives by maintaining a constant level of alcohol in their blood, won the prize for best international feature. In the night’s most moving speech, director Thomas Vinterberg dedicated the award to his 19 year old daughter, Ida, who was killed in a car accident on a highway four days into shooting. “You are part of this miracle, maybe you’ve been pulling some strings somewhere” Vinterberg said, trying to hold back his tears.

“Sound of Metal” took home an award in the Best Film Editing category with Danish film editor Mikkel E.G. Nielsen scoring his first Academy win.

“Another Round” is currently available to stream on HULU, Amazon Prime Video and Laemmle Virtual Cinema. “Sound of Metal” is available on Amazon Prime Video.

The Embassy of Denmark in Washington, D.C. sat down with Thomas Vinterberg at his villa in West Hollywood and spoke about the film before it won the prize:
