CHICAGO: Water, Sustainable Industry & Market Entry Advisory | Application Number: TC-1

The Position:The Trade Council of Denmark in North America is seeking a highly motivated and self-driven intern to support Danish companies in entering and expanding in the U.S. and Canadian markets. Based at the Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago, you will be an integrated part of the Water, Sustainable Industry, and Market Entry Advisory teams, working to promote Danish solutions across North America.


As part of a dedicated and ambitious team of approximately 14 employees, you will support Danish companies within water technologies and sustainable industry solutions through market analysis, stakeholder management, export promotion, and business development activities. Additionally, you will gain broad exposure to multiple sectors through market entry cases. You will be closely involved in daily operations and hands-on projects, contributing to case solving and project execution while gaining in-depth insight into North American market and industry conditions.

 
Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting market and industry analysis
  • Data collection and research
  • Connecting Danish companies with U.S. and Canadian stakeholders in the public and private sectors
  • Supporting business development and market entry projects
  • Outreach to industry stakeholders
  • Planning and executing seminars, workshops, and delegations

The candidate

Interns are responsible for their own expenses, including airfare and housing. The Consulate General of Denmark in Chicago provides 5,000 DKK per month toward documented rental costs.

The Position:

The Position

The Embassy in Washington DC is looking for a highly motivated intern to assist Danish companies with trade and export promotion. SILICON VALLEY: Economic Diplomacy | Application Number: TC-13

The Position

The Consulate General of Denmark in Silicon Valley is looking for a highly motivated Economic Diplomacy Intern to support Denmark’s strategic interests in the United States, with a strong focus on sustainability, technology, innovation, and policy.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of diplomacy, policy, technology, and business in one of the world’s leading innovation ecosystems. You will become an integrated part of the Consulate’s Economic Diplomacy team and work closely with diplomats and advisors in a lean, dynamic, and internationally oriented organization.

As an intern, you will contribute to Denmark’s economic diplomacy agenda by supporting strategic initiatives, partnerships, and engagements across government, industry, academia, and innovation ecosystems in California.

Your Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting projects within economic diplomacy, with a focus on sustainability, emerging technologies, and innovation
  • Contributing to work related to the green transition, including areas such as water, energy, climate tech, and sustainable solutions
  • Conducting research and analysis to support delegations, policy briefings, reports, and strategic initiatives related to innovation, technology, and economic trends
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of delegations, events, and high-level visits involving tech companies, innovation actors, and policymakers
  • Engaging with stakeholders across government, industry, academia, and innovation ecosystems
  • Supporting internal coordination and preparation of meetings, presentations, and mission reports

The exact task portfolio will be shaped around your profile and interests, while ensuring strong exposure to economic diplomacy in practice.

The Candidate

We are not focused on rigid requirements, but on motivation and potential. You might be a strong candidate if you:

  • Are enrolled in a higher educational institution within fields such as political science, international relations, economics, business, sustainability, technology, innovation, or similar
  • Have a genuine interest in economic diplomacy, policy, sustainability, technology, and international collaboration
  • Are analytically strong and comfortable working with complex topics
  • Are structured, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Communicate clearly in both English and Danish
