Residence permit

Residence and/or work permits must be obtained before entering Denmark.

Applications for residence and work permits can be submitted at VFS visa application center on a limited basis in New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Houston and San Francisco. 

NB! As of January 9, 2021, the Danish government has introduced new entry restrictions, which apply to travellers from all countries, who wish to enter Denmark. The restrictions are valid from January 9 to February 7, 2021. If you travel to Denmark, you must present proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 24 hours before entry. All applications will be handled by the Danish Consulate General in New York.

Since online submission of applications require biometrics to be obtained within 2 weeks from the online submission it is recommended to obtain an appointment with VFS Global prior to the online submission of the application since it can take up to 14 days to obtain an appointment with VFS Global.
