Technical Advisor - Water Distribution

Do you have experience within water distribution from a utility or from a consultancy, and are you looking for an international career combining diplomacy with business development? We are looking for a new colleague with strong technical insights for our Water Distribution Team who can assist Danish water companies in exporting their technologies to the U.S.

The Trade Council in North America’s Water Distribution Team strengthens the ties between the Danish and the U.S. water sector.

We share knowledge, ideas, and experiences and assist Danish water technology companies with the U.S. market. We are seeking an advisor with a solid business and technical understanding of the water sector to join our Water Distribution Team in North America.

As our new colleague in the Water Distribution Team, you will be part of the Water Advisory consisting of ten advisors working to inspire U.S. utilities, cities, and states to look towards Denmark and Danish companies for problem solving technologies as well as efficiency and quality gains etc.

Our geographical focus areas for our Water Distribution Team are California and Texas.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To serve as the technical point person for the Danish Water Technology Alliance (WTA) on water distribution.
  • To effectively communicate the Danish water story through a variety of mediums including one-on-one meetings, workshops, and presentations.
  • To expand our local network in California and Texas by engaging in technical and collaborative discussions with utilities, authorities, associations, and consultant engineers.
  • To support business development for our Danish partner companies in the WTA by understanding and promoting our Danish partners’ technologies while communicating how each has helped improve the Danish water sector. To consult with Danish companies and organizations wishing to work in the U.S. water market.
  • To work as a link between potential customers and our alliance partners by providing status updates on existing projects and following up on opportunities.
  • To help U.S. stakeholders understand how Danish solutions might provide value locally.
  • To act as a project manager to develop collaborative opportunities such as flagship and pilot projects. To help plan and execute technology road shows, workshops, and delegations.

Required Qualifications

  • You have an academic, technical or business background.
  • You have sound experiences within drinking water supply and/or groundwater from a utility, a consultant or technology provider.
  • You have knowledge of optimizing drinking water systems. Preferably knowledge of water loss reduction and energy efficient distribution systems.
  • You possess an ability to foster and maintain networks.You have a high sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
  • Your command of English is excellent.
  • You have great interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues.
  • You are a proactive and have a results-oriented approach to handling assignments.
  • You are flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the Consulate and the Water Distribution Team.
  • You have a commercial mind-set or a wish to learn.
  • You have the desire to travel 80+ days per year around primarily California, Texas, and Denmark.

Employment Conditions

  • You will be hired as a “Technical Commercial Advisor” and based at the Consulate General of Denmark in Silicon Valley (Palo Alto).
  • Starting date is April 1st, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • You will be offered a two-year full time local employment contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Your contract is regulated according to “Staff Rules” of the Danish representations in the U.S.Your salary will reflect qualifications, relevant work experience, and proven work-related results.
  • Other benefits: 5 weeks of paid vacation, healthcare (80% employer contribution), and pension scheme.
  • Travel days must be expected both in the U.S. and Denmark. It may vary depending on projects.
