District Energy Advisor to join our Greenbuild Team

Do you want to utilize your business acumen and energy industry experience to assist Danish companies in bringing their district energy solutions to North America? Then perhaps you are our new (senior) advisor.

Based out of our New York office, your primary goal will be to assist Danish companies in growing their business in North America. In the efforts to foster partnerships, you will spearhead and develop an existing alliance of Danish district energy companies, which aims to bring low-carbon district energy systems to campuses and cities in North America. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • You will lead the Danish District Energy Alliance with focus on creating value for the alliance members. This includes but is not limited to organizing and hosting workshops and delegations for our North American partners looking to implement low-carbon district energy systems.
  • You will manage strategic outreach towards decision-makers and companies to bridge the gap between North American and Danish stakeholders. 
  • You will assist Danish companies in their outreach to connect with potential partners. 
  • You will support Danish companies in exploring potential market opportunities, i.e., by delivering market intelligence and business development.
  • You will participate in The Trade Council’s regional cooperation across missions in North America and report to the relevant sector Team Lead and the local Head of Mission.

To succeed in this role, you should be able to:

  • Actively use your network to establish close relations with American and Canadian authorities, campuses, towns, and private companies.
  • Utilize existing knowledge of the Danish/American/Canadian energy market, and preferably know of low-carbon energy solutions. 
  • Draw on your experience from collaborating with either Danish, American or Canadian energy authorities and/or the energy industry, maybe in a public-private partnership framework.
  • Work efficiently on your own and be committed to ensuring strong team performance. 
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders for the benefit of Danish companies. 
  • Deliver value and tangible results. 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelors (minimum) in commerce, social sciences, or engineering
  • 3-8 years of relevant work experience, i.e., within business and project development, consulting, sales.
  • An ambitious, outgoing personality. 
  • A well-developed sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Solid understanding of the district energy market, preferably from a North American perspective of sustainability and policy/regulations. 

Employment conditions

  • You will be hired on local terms as “Commercial Advisor” or “Senior Commercial Advisor, depending on your qualifications. 
  • You will be offered full-time employment for two years with the possibility of extension.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week, and you will be assessed on targets such as activity and value creation according to the framework of The Trade Council's paid export advisory. 
  • Your contract is regulated according to the “Local Staff Rules” of the Danish mission in North America.
  • Your salary will reflect qualifications, relevant work experience, and proven work-related results.
  • You should expect travels in North America and to Denmark. 
  • Your contract will offer five weeks of paid vacation annually, group healthcare benefits, a pension scheme, and the potential for year-end bonus.
