Then you might be our new Commercial Advisor in the Health & Life Sciences Advisory team. As a Commercial Advisor, you will be an integrated part of our North American Health & Life Science Advisory team with your team lead being based at the Innovation Center in Boston. 

 

 

The Consulate General of Denmark in New York

The Consulate General is part of the Danish Foreign Service and Denmark's official representation in New York and across the East Coast. We advise and assist in a number of areas – consular, commercial, investment and cultural – and we communicate to the US public on important topics of relevance to Denmark. The Consulate General consists of approx. 40 employees. You will be hired as a part of the Consulate General’s Trade Team consisting of eight full time employed commercial advisors, three interns and the Head of the Trade. The Trade Council in North America consists of more than 75 employees and is represented at offices in Washington DC, New York City, Chicago, Houston, Toronto, Boston and Silicon Valley.

 

As a Commercial Advisor, you will be an integrated part of our North American Health & Life Science Advisory team and be responsible for maturing project opportunities for Danish companies. 

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Specializing in the U.S. healthcare and life science sector from a Danish perspective.
  • Mapping and managing key stakeholders in the U.S.
  • Organize and execute events, workshops, and delegations to and from Denmark.
  • Research, develop, and present North American market entry strategies, business development strategies, and market intelligence to Danish companies and institutions.
  • Expand our local network in New York and engage in collaborative discussions with hospitals and academic institutions, local health authorities, associations, consultants, and key opinion leaders.
  • Work as a link between U.S. customers and stakeholders, and Danish partners.
  • Help execute project and collaboration opportunities. 
  • Mapping of stakeholders, creating ambitious meeting programs and providing logistical support to high-level participants during the United Nations General Assembly and other high-level UN Summits throughout the year
  • Ministerial service during ministerial visits to New York.

Required qualifications

  • You have relevant education – preferably with relevant work experience (2-3 years) in consulting, business and project development, sales, etc.
  • You are ambitious, efficient, outgoing, and able to handle multiple tasks and work under time pressure.
  • You have a high sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • You have an excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • You have an analytical mind-set.
  • You have experience in the healthcare and life science sector would be an advantage (but not required).The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills while possessing curiosity and creativity to build deep knowledge in healthcare solutions and develop networks in new subsector areas.

Employment conditions

  • You will be offered full time employment for 2 years on a local contract with the possibility of extension. Housing and relocation benefits are not provided as part of the employment and your spouse/partner is not eligible for a work permit.
  • This is a full-time salary position - the Consulate General’s standard work week is 37 hours; but you are employed without an upper working hours’ limit. You will have a large degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours.
  • You will be entitled to 5 weeks (25 working days) of paid vacation days per year.
  • As part of your salary you will be covered by a workplace pension scheme.  
  • You will be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses. So will your spouse/partner/children under the age of 26 if you provide for him/her/them. 
  • The gross yearly salary for the position – for an employee subject to US income taxation – is 93,350$. For a tax-exempt employee (non-US) the yearly net salary is 74,680$. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, an additional individual allowance may be added
