1. The Defense department

The Position
The Defense department at the Danish Embassy in Washington DC are responsible for maintaining and further strengthening the close military cooperation with the United States and Canada
The department also perform a variety of tasks related to defense procurement, industry promotion, Foreign Military Sales, logistics, education and training, participation in drills, visits, meetings, import/export permits, wounded veterans, official events, networking, various events etc. The Defense department also monitor and analyze the development in the American defense. Further, the department support Danish organizations and businesses, which wish to establish or strengthen their position in the American Defense sector.  
As an intern, you will contribute with monitoring the development in these areas and contribute to the preparation of reports etc. to Danish authorities and other stakeholders. 

Your daily tasks include, but not are not limited to: 
Contribute to monitoring of technological and structural development in the American Defense
Contribute to reporting to the Danish authorities
Contribute to the mapping and execution of industry campaigns
Support the planning and execution of defense related visits from Danish delegations
Conduct research on the market, possibilities and challenges for the Danish Defense industry
Practical tasks in relation to events on the Embassy, such as sending of invitations, guided tours, preparation of events, meetings etc.
Gain knowledge about the American Defense, including budget and structure
Option to participate in briefings, conferences and debates on and outside the Embassy

The Candidate

You are enrolled at a higher educational institution within for example Law, Social Studies or within another relevant subject
Fluency in Danish and English (oral and written) at a high level is required
You possess an independent drive along with a positive attitude when engaging in new tasks
Our ideal candidate has a flair for media monitoring, including selection and systemization of material
Experience from The Danish Defense or industrial cooperation is an advantage, but not a requirement

2. Foreign-, Security- and Development Politics

The Position

The Embassy is looking for an intern to support the work within Foreign-, Security- and Development Politics.

Your daily tasks include, but not are not limited to: 
- Take part in the daily work of monitoring and analysing American foreign- and security politics
Contribute with background research, data collection and data fabrication, as well as preparation of contributions for the departments reporting
Gain a good first impression of the political community in Washington DC, as well as on how Denmark’s biggest bilateral embassy functions
Participate in meetings with the American administration, the Congress, think-tank’s and NGO’s in Washington DC
Gain a better understanding of the relationship between political theory and practice in an American context and in the area of tension between Danish and American foreign policy
Gain a greater knowledge about American social conditions and culture. 

The Candidate
You are enrolled at a higher educational institution within social studies
Fluency in English (oral and written) is required
Office package skills are expected
You have flair for information gathering and presentation
You thrive in an international environment, where an outgoing and  curious approach is crucial
You possess an independent drive along with a positive attitude when engaging in new tasks

3. Foreign-, Security- and Defense politics, with special focus on the Congress

The Position
The Embassy in Washington DC are looking for an intern to support the work with the Congress in the department for Foreign- Security- and Defense Politics.

Your daily tasks include, but not be limited to: 
Support preparation and execution of Congress visits and staffer-and expert visit in Denmark with in the fields of Security- and Defense politics
Contribute with background research, data collection and data fabrication, as well as assist the departments work in the Congress, including preparation of meetings
Build and maintain a knowledge bank of the members of the Congress within Foreign-, Security- and Defense politics, including interest, political standpoint and key issues
Gain a good first impression of the political community in Washington DC, as well as on how Denmark’s biggest bilateral embassy functions
Participate in meetings with the American administration, Congress, think-tank’s and NGO’s in Washington DC
Gain a better understanding of the relationship between political theory and practice in an American context and in the area of tension between Danish and American foreign policy
Gain a greater knowledge about American social conditions and culture.

4. Domestic Politics & Economic Affairs

The Position
The Embassy is looking for an intern to support the work within Domestic Politics & Economic Affairs. 
The intern will be an integral part of the Embassies daily work with American domestic politics, economic affairs, trade politics, and analysis of the development in the sector such as health, climate/energy and shipping. Further, the work with the Congress and the Embassies activities in relevant states will be areas of great focus. 
You will be an integrated part of the team, and will throughout your internship gain knowledge of: 
Gain experience in research, data collection and presentation of American economic- and domestic political conditions, planning of network events and meeting schedules
Gain knowledge about American social conditions and culture
Gain access to the international community in Washington DC
Possibility to visit and create contacts to American and Danish companies, political institutions and organizations
Gain insight on how we work on Denmark’s biggest Embassy
