Attestation and Certification

This page contains information about attestation and certification

Apostille and Legalization of Danish Documents
When a Danish document is to be used abroad, it often has to be legalized in Denmark first. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark can legalize Danish documents.

For information regarding Apostille and Legalization of Danish documents, please see Legalisation of Danish documents.

Translations of Official Danish Documents
The Embassy and Danish speaking consulates can provide translations of official Danish documents, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, driver’s licenses, etc.

For translation of other types of documents, such as exam certificates and letters from the Danish government or legal offices, please contact an authorized translator.

Certification of Official Danish Documents
Under certain conditions, the Embassy and Danish consulates can certify the following:

  • Factual and confirmed conditions, such as Danish citizenship
  • Authenticity of letters from the Danish authorities
  • A private person’s signature, i.e. to certify “proof of life”
  • A copy being in accordance with the original document

To inquire about translations or certifications and related fees, please contact the Embassy or nearest Danish Consulate.
