Housekeeper for the Ambassador’s Official Residence

The Embassy of Denmark in Washington DC is looking for a Housekeeper for the Ambassador’s Official Residence. The Housekeeper will be part of the Embassy’s Administrative Department.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities
Your tasks will be to assist in the daily maintenance of the Ambassador’s Official Residence, incl.:

  • Assisting in setting up for functions and receptions, including preparing tables, receiving guest, serving duties and post-event tidying.
  • Cleaning and ensuring that the Residence remains in good working order and reporting faults where appropriate.

 

Required qualifications

  • Preferably, experience with working in official households.
  • Good logistic and coordination skills.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Versatile and flexible in nature, ready to adapt and to take individual responsibility for a range of tasks, both big and small.
  • Structured and good at planning and prioritizing.
  • Good command of spoken English.
  • Positive attitude and able to work effectively and supportively with colleagues, both individually and in a team;
  • Ready also to work evenings a few days a week and weekends when needed.
  • Able to act with discretion at all times;

Employment conditions

  • We offer a full time employment for 3 years with the possibility of extension on a local contract based on the relevant legally binding labour market rules of the United States of America.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week whereof approx. 10 hours a week will be between 5.00pm and 10.00pm.
  • You will be entitled to 25 days of paid vacation per year.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results and include an allowance for partly working evenings.
