Technical Biogas and Wastewater Advisor - Houston

The Trade Council in North America’s (TCNA) Water and Biogas Advisory strengthens the ties between the Danish and U.S. water and biogas sectors. We share knowledge, ideas, and experiences and assist Danish companies in the U.S. market. We seek a Technical Advisor with solid business understanding to join our TCNA Water and Environment Team in North America.

You will play a key role in working with U.S. public utilities and Danish companies in the U.S., where you can support technical insights. You will work closely with a Senior Technical Advisor and a commercial advisor on the biogas team and a Senior Technical Advisor, a Technical Advisor, and a Junior Commercial Advisor on the wastewater team. These team members are based out of Washington and Chicago, while you will be based in Texas, focusing on Texas and California.

Ultimately, we/you want to inspire U.S. utilities and other stakeholders to look towards Danish companies for problem-solving technologies as well as efficiency and quality gains, etc.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Integrated part of the biogas team, with a focus on Texas and California.
  • Strong collaboration with the wastewater team. Also, with a focus on Texas and California.
  • Support the Senior Technical Wastewater Advisor in utility dialogs and support the Senor Technical Biogas Advisor in developing especially the Texan market. 
  • Support and develop city-to-city dialogs in close collaboration with teams and the Head of the Water and Environment Team
  • Help U.S. stakeholders understand how Danish solutions might provide value locally.
  • Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with U.S. utilities and other stakeholders.
  • Consult with Danish companies and organizations wishing to work on the U.S. wastewater and biogas market.
  • Help manage and develop collaborative opportunities such as flagship and pilot projects.
  • Help plan and execute technology roadshows, workshops, and delegations.

Required qualifications

  • Experience within the wastewater sector and/or biogas sector.
  • Relevant technical education.
  • Structured, outgoing, and able to handle multiple tasks and work under time pressure.
  • A high sense of responsibility and ability to work proactively in and with a team.
  • Strong command of English (written and spoken).

Employment conditions

  • You will be hired as a “Technical Advisor” at the Consulate General of Denmark in Houston.
  • Starting date is August 1st, 2021, or as soon as possible thereafter.
  • You will be offered a 2-year full-time local contract employment with the possibility of extension. Your standard working hours are 37 hours per week.
  • Your contract is regulated according to the “Staff Rules” of the Danish missions in North America.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant work experience, and proven work-related results.
  • Other benefits: 5 weeks of paid vacation, healthcare (80% employer contribution), pension scheme, and potential for a year-end bonus.
  • Some travel days must be expected (may vary depending on projects).
