Part-time Student Assistant to Public Diplomacy, Press and Culture - Washington D.C.

We are looking for a part-time student assistant who is eager to learn and develop professionally as well as personally. As a student assistant, you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class to practice, and at the same time be part of a dedicated and ambitious team working for Denmark abroad. The student assistant position is approximately 15 hours weekly. 

The Student Assistant Position

You will have an important role in the Embassy press and communication efforts, with special focus on social media. You will, among many other things, create content for social media focusing on Denmark, Danish values and culture, Danish companies export successes in the US, and Danish-American trade. You will create content for the Embassy homepage, media monitoring, and update and further develop the Embassy Instagram-, Facebook-, Twitter- and LinkedIn profiles.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and updating content for Social Media
  • Conducting interviews, recording and editing film and other content
  • Participating in planning and execution of official visits, events and cultural events
  • Maintaining the Embassy homepage: usa.um.dk
  • Taking part in promoting Denmark’s cultural profile in the USA
  • Contributing to information and promotion of cultural events
  • Replying to enquiries regarding Danish culture, Danish social conditions etc.
  • Ad hoc tasks

The Candidate’s Qualifications

  • You are enrolled at a higher educational institution in the United States focusing on communication, journalism, media, marketing or related fields
  • Excellent English skills (spoken and written) is required
  • Well versed in MC Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Video and web editing skills are an advantage
  • Proactive, independent and creative self-starter with the ability to learn quickly

As a “Student Assistant” you will receive a monthly stipend.

The chosen candidate must be able to present a “No Criminal Record” and pass security clearance by the Danish authorities.
