Can you communicate a climate progressive, business oriented agenda for the Danish Government on multiple platforms and channels? Then the Consulate General of Denmark in New York might be the place for you as we are looking for a creative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

As Denmark’s official representation in New York, we work with commercial, cultural, press and consular affairs and tasks. Our job is to use our channels to communicate Danish policies, cultural values and commercial strongholds, such as e.g. climate solutions, digital innovation, design and architecture, culture and the arts, as well as the strengths of the Danish societal model.

As Strategic Communications and Press Officer you will be responsible for promoting Denmark, Danish values, and Danish commercial solutions, developing and carrying out the Consulate’s external communications strategy, and pitch relevant stories to the US and Danish media. 

 

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Conceptualizing and executing communication strategies to increase the visibility of @denmarkinny and strengthen our US press and media relations
  • Engage and expand the Consulate’s network of external stakeholders and interest groups to promote and develop our strategic goals
  • Take part in speech writing, write briefing notes, public presentations as well as press materials and other press-related matters in connection with Consul Generals events and official visits from Denmark
  • Planning and producing original content for live and planned distributions on the Consulate’s social media platforms
  • Working closely with and supervising a communication intern

 

Required qualifications

  • Relevant education, e.g. journalism, communication, media production
  • Experience with developing and executing successful communication strategies in corporate or governmental institutions
  • Writing, story-telling, angling, and content producing skills (video, stills, text, speech, briefing notes, etc.)
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to foster new networks, establish media contacts, and cultivate strategic liaisons
  • Team player in a high tempo and collaborative working environment
  • Excellent command of English - oral and written

 

Desired qualifications

  • Experience with CMS and analytics tools and using video editing software
  • Experience in digital marketing
  • Knowledge of Danish and American society, business, and culture
  • An established media network in New York/US

Employment conditions

  • Full-time employment for 2 years on a contract on local terms with the Danish Consulate General in New York - with the possibility of extension
  • You will be employed with a work week of – on average – 37 hours, but you are employed without an upper working hours limit. You will have a large degree of flexibility in organizing your own daily working hours
  • You will have 5 weeks (25 working days) paid vacation days per full year of employment
  • You will be covered by a workplace pension scheme 
  • You will be offered an employer and employee sponsored health insurance. So will your spouse and children under the age of 26 if you provide for him/her/them
  • The gross yearly salary for the position – for an employee subject to US income taxation – is 81,790 $. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, an additional individual allowance may be added
