Driver and Maintenance Officer

The Embassy of Denmark in Washington D.C. has an opening for a full time experienced Driver and Maintenance Officer.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities
As our new colleague in the Embassy’s Administration Department, your responsibilities will be two-fold: (1) you will be responsible for providing professional transportation for Embassy staff and delegations, and (2) you will be responsible for contributing to maintaining the Embassy buildings and surroundings. Your tasks will include

Transportation for Embassy staff and visiting delegations in Embassy vehicles, incl. back up as Ambassador’s driver
General indoor and outdoor facility maintenance of the Embassy and the official Residence, incl. outdoor grounds
Attending to care and appearance of Embassy vehicles
Minor repairs and contact to external service providers
Performing other duties as assigned

Your work will be planned on a daily basis together with your team colleagues and tasks will be approximately divided 50/50 between maintenance and driving. Each area will be equally important and prioritised in this position.

 

Required qualifications
Experienced professional driver, preferable with knowledge of driving in Washington DC
Experience with basic general facility maintenance
Driver’s license and clean driving record
Being able to spot needs for basic building maintenance 
Professional and punctual
Flexible with working hours
Able to do heavy lifting occasionally
Good oral communication skills are essential
Good English skills required
Positive attitude and good team player
Clean criminal records

Employment conditions
You will be offered full time employment for 3 years with the possibility of extension on a local contract 
You are employed with a work week of an average of 37 working hours, including a 30 minutes daily lunch break, but you are employed without an upper working hour limit
Some evening work must be expected during high level visits
You will be entitled to 25 days of paid vacation per year

Full time employment for 3 years on a local contract with the possibility of extension
