The Speaker of Parliament (Danish: Folketinget) Mogens Lykketoft and deputy speakers Bertel Haarder and Holger K. Nielsen visited Washington, D.C. from Monday to Thursday, June 18-21.
As part of an interesting schedule, the MPs met with Speaker Boehner from the House of Representatives, House Minority Whip Hoyer, and other members of the U.S. Congress. The MPs also met with political strategists from both political parties, and with Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Tina Kaidanow.
Finally, the leadership met with representatives from the International Monetary Fund to talk about the IMF’s analysis of the Euro crisis and the fund’s role in how the Euro zone is to overcome the debt problems it is currently facing.
