About Omaha, Nebraska
The Omaha area, including communities in eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa, is rich in Danish heritage and culture.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census, when ethnic heritage questions were asked, Omaha had 13,427 individuals claiming Danish descent, making it the American city with the highest number of Danish descendants, ahead of Los Angeles with 11,367 and New York City with 7,460 claiming Danish descent.

Nebraska, at 3.1 percent, is second after Utah (6.5 percent) in terms of percentage of Danish population within the total state population.  Iowa is 5th with 2.3 percent.
