The Consulate General of Denmark In New York works at the intersection of US and international economic, social and cultural affairs, building relationships with key public and private sector stakeholders, advancing global-local dialogue, bridging US and Danish commercial interests in sustainability, design and the life sciences, and spurring US private sector investment in Denmark. Through our work, we elevate the conversation surrounding Denmark and Danish values and spotlight Denmark’s active role in culture, design and architecture; sustainability and green development; and pursue multilateral engagements with civil society actors in New York and across the US.  


Who are we looking for?

Internships at Denmark In New York are offered twice a year during the spring semester (start date February 1st) and autumn semester (start date August 1st) and run for a period of six months. Interns are expected to assist their respective team leaders with their designated responsibilities and ad hoc initiatives and events. As part of the Consulate’s public-facing engagements with local stakeholders, the Consulate regularly coordinates high-level panels and discussions, networking receptions, informational and business seminars as well as major events on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.   

 

 

Our available internships are:
 

  • Public Diplomacy / Communications Interns ( 2 positions)

    The Public Diplomacy interns work to promote Brand Denmark through cultural and communications-based channels, by dialoguing with relevant stakeholders, and through leveraging key platforms that elevate Denmark In New York’s nation-branding initiatives closely with the Communications and Culture team leaders as well as management. Key tasks can include: producing original content and interviews promoting Denmark In New York’s work; responding to inquiries regarding Danish art and culture and handling visiting programs and ministerial visits; and ad hoc research, analysis and speechwriting for the Consulate.  Read more:

  • Commercial Diplomacy Interns (3 positions)

    The Commercial Diplomacy interns work closely with their respective team leaders to advance Danish commercial interests and market opportunities in sustainability in key sectors spanning design, architecture, tech, life science and clean tech. Key tasks can include: providing market and competitor analysis for Danish companies interested in the US market and on US companies’ core competencies; providing business development and growth market strategies to Danish companies; assisting in developing business intelligence. Are you eligible?

You must be either a Danish or foreign national enrolled in an education program at a Danish institution of higher education. Danish nationals may also be enrolled in an education program at a foreign institution of higher education. Foreign nationals may be offered an internship provided they have lived in Denmark for a large number of years and are, at the time of application, residents of Denmark and otherwise meet the preconditions. Interns must be enrolled in an academic program at the Danish or foreign institution of higher education throughout the duration of the traineeship. Interns who already hold a Masters degree from a foreign university must be enrolled in a candidate program of a Danish university in order to apply.
